The Waverly Small Works Gallery, located in the south wing of the Waverly Community House, will feature the works of Ron Rumford, Director at Dolan-Maxwell in Philadelphia, PA. The exhibit, entitled SHELTER IN PLACE: NEW WORKS BY RON RUMFORD, kicks off with an artist reception in the Gallery on Thursday, September 17th at 5:00 p.m. followed with a talk by the artist at 6:30 p.m. Masks are required and social distancing will be in place.
Born in Fort Meade, Maryland, Ron received his BFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. He also studied at the Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy. Ron was Founding President (1991-1994) of the Greene Street Artist Cooperative, artist owned and managed live-work loft studios, and has held various board positions there since 1994. Since 2012, Ron has served on the Art Advisory Board of the Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State University and in 2017 he was appointed Board Chairman, a position he still holds there.
Ron has been exhibiting his work all over the country and in Europe for more than 27 years. His most recent exhibitions include 28 YEARS RAMBLING THROUGH THE LANDSCAPE, an inaugural exhibition at the Ballinglen Museum of Art in Ballycastle, County May, Ireland; UNFORSEEABLE THERENESS at the Stanek Gallery in Philadelphia and ART ON PAPER NEW YORK with the Philadelphia Print Center, on Pier 36 in New York City.
His awards include the Pennsylvania Art of the State award and a two-year graphic artist’s studio residency in Dublin, Ireland. He has been featured in numerous publications, including five times in The Philadelphia Inquirer. His works appear in more than 50 collections including the Boston Public Library, Camden County Cultural & Heritage Commission in Camden, NJ; the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH; Four Seasons in Palo Alto, CA; the DC Print & Picture Collection at The Free Library in Philadelphia; Pennsylvania University Art Museum, Philadelphia, PA; the Bank of Ireland in Dublin, Ireland and Renaissance Hotels in Philadelphia, PA & St. Louis, MO.
Ron’s works will be on display in the Gallery through October 22nd. The mission of the Gallery is to provide a place for artists to show their works, to promote art appreciation in the community and to encourage and hearten the human spirit through visual arts.
